Accidental Radioactive Fallout in the Drained Areas of the ChNPP Cooling Pond

Radionuclide contamination and migration processes in soils on the drained areas of the cooling pond bottom were studied. Soil samples were taken from different points of the cooling pond. The measurement results show that over 80% of radionuclide activity is found at a depth of 10 –20 cm. The presence of radionuclides 241Am, 137Cs, 90Sr, and highlighted activities of 155Eu and 154Eu and 60Co and 94Nb were found. Analysis of the ratios of 60Co and 94Nb showed that, most likely, this is the fallout
