A non-destructive method has been developed for the in vivo determination of Sr-90 in small living objects (mice, birds, amphibians, fish, etc.). It is based on electron spectroscopy without radiochemical release. The new method opens up new possibilities for studying the accumulation of radiostrontium in living objects, measuring the fallout of radiostrontium in the first phase of radiation accidents in the field. This method makes it possible to study the concentration of Sr-90 and Cs-137 in various living objects when the Cs-137/Sr-90 ratio changes from 1 to 100 with an error of less than 20%. The proposed method makes it possible to significantly reduce the cost of determining the Sr-90 content in comparison with traditional radiochemical studies.
